What I Liked About Polyfest

What is Polyfest?
Polyfest is like a festival for all people that loves to watch there culture dancing. It is popular in New Zealand and also Australia. If would describe polyfest again it would be describe as mostly fun and also creative because polyfest is about believing in your culture and watching what your culture did in the past by young students dancing.

Thursday afternoon was so amazing because the team 5 students from Pt England school were able to take a trip to Polyfest. The very first thing that I love about polyfest was meeting our Leader of New Zealand which was John Key. He was wearing a fabulous suit with a smile on his face. It was absolutely fun! The second most thing that I liked was meeting people from Flava, that talks on the radio. There station on the radio is 95.80. My very last favourite part about polyfest was tasting a delicious drink. My group was able to taste and give our idea's to what it tasted like. "I can taste coconut with pineapple," I said. I love polyfest!

Writing - Polyfest

Kia Ora, talofa lava, malo e lelei, faakalofa lahi atu, kia orana, bula vinaka, namaste and greetings!!  It’s Pasifika week in Aotearoa, this means it’s a week long celebration of all things Pacific.  This includes the birthday dance we had with Mrs Tele’a!  Part of the celebration is the Polyfest!  This Thursday we are planning to travel to Manukau to take part in some workshops and then visit stages.  The two stages we will be visiting will be the Maori and Diversity stages.  Did you know that this event - the Polyfest celebrates 40 years since it’s beginning?  Awesome isn’t it!

Why do you think young people and their whanau participate in this event?I think young people participate in this event because I think that polyfest is apart of carry on your culture tradition from the past. Families and friends participate by watching each others performance, because it may help the judges to pick 1st, 2nd or 3rd place.

What things do you think the performers had to go through to get to having the items we will see? (Make a list)
  • They had to practice and practice to make there performance perfect
  • They would also have to make there customs to participate in this event
  • They would also have to make sure that your group would have enough contenders
  • Make sure that your group knows the dance or words to the performance
How does this event promote our different cultures?

This event promote our culture by carrying on the traditions that had happen in the past by our ancestors. It specially telling us to carry on our culture dancing's and many more for a reason because if we didn't celebrate or remember our culture what would we celebrate in our days. We should also teach the young so they would remember that mine or your culture is special.
